CPME brought European doctors’ voice to the European Health Forum Gastein
Our Secretary General Sarada Das, highlighted the need to consider the health workforce in emergency preparedness planning and the continued need for effective disease prevention policies and more ambition in goals and implementation. On the latter topic, the forum also dedicated a session to the 40th anniversary of the WHO Ottawa Charter on Health Promotion which will also be revisited during the CPME General Assembly in November.
On the theme of preparedness, she emphasised that disregarding health workforce staffing and training needs undermines other preparedness activities and fails to act on the lessons learnt from the pandemic.
She also noted the importance of enabling effective patient-doctor communication both through education and clinical guidelines during a session on the invisible mental burden on patients living with non-communicable diseases.
Our, EU Policy Adviser Diogo Teixeira Pereira attended as Young Forum Gasteiner Fellow, contributing to discussions on innovation, resilience and equity in healthcare, among many others.
