With its proposal to create the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), the European Commission has correctly recognised the need for a new mechanism responsible for innovation related to health emergencies.

HERA offers the opportunity to establish a new public-driven model of R&D that ensures health innovations respond to real public health needs and are equally accessible.

The Authority should help the EU to achieve better preparedness and response to health emergencies.

CPME is represented in the Civil Society Forum established by HERA.
