CPME Rapporteur: Dr Patrick O’SULLIVAN (IE)
CPME Secretariat: Mr Markus KUJAWA

Smoking is the cause of ill health and pre-mature death on a massive scale. Tobacco cannot be consumed without damage to health. Mostly, this not only affects the smoker, but also secondary and tertiary persons, including children. CPME is strongly in favour of effective regulatory action, both at national and EU level, to ensure that access to and consumption of tobacco products as well as their promotional information is strictly regulated with a view to progressively achieving a total prohibition. We also discuss doctors’ roles in encouraging smoking cessation and foster the exchange of good practices.

CPME is a partner of the Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) Coalition, a network comprising of independent European and national advocacy organisations with technical expertise in tobacco control policy.
