Chronic conditions and diseases are a major and growing problem in the ageing population across Europe. CPME believes that this can be tackled by reducing the main risk factors – smoking, alcohol abuse, poor diet and insufficient exercise.
CPME is offering support and expertise to the European Union on its initiatives. Currently, CPME is partnering in the EU joint action CHRODIS+ to implement good practices for chronic diseases.
Adopted CPME policies include
- CPME Statement on the Management of Chronic Conditions, 2013
- CPME response to the EU reflection on chronic diseases, 2012
- CPME response to the consultation on the WHO Health 2020 policy framework and strategy documents, 2012
