PICUM report on undocumented migrantsComments Off on PICUM report on undocumented migrants

picumOn 3 October 2013, the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) released a new report “Guaranteeing Access to Health Care for Undocumented Migrants in Europe: What Role Can Local and Regional Authorities Play?” The report presents relevant strategies to support and empower undocumented migrant children and their families. In particular, it outlines the crucial role played by local and regional authorities to ensure the implementation of fundamental rights of undocumented migrants, with a special focus on access to healthcare. The report is the outcome of a roundtable discussion held by PICUM together with EUROCITIES at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 12 December 2012. The roundtable addressed discrepancies between national and local level regulations and practices on access to health care for undocumented migrants. CPME supports efforts to close gaps in health inequalities and ensure access to healthcare for undocumented migrants.
