OECD Health Indicators 2005Comments Off on OECD Health Indicators 2005

The OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) has recently published Health Indicators 2005 – Health at a glance, a comprehensive study of the performance of health systems in 30 countries members of the OECD.
The document is based on the 2005 edition of the OECD Health Data published earlier this year.
According to this study and the related press release of OECD, countries spend only 3% of their budget allocated to healthcare on prevention and public health programs, while there is concrete evidence that prevention costs less than treatment and can be very effective for certain public health problems.
