CPME Rapporteur on Data protection: Sjaak NOUWT (NL)
CPME Secretariat: Sara RODA
CPME believes that a high level protection of all citizens’ data is essential, especially health and medical data. Indeed, the patient-doctor relationship is built on confidence and trust, medical records should therefore be considered as particularly sensitive data. At the same time, it is of utmost importance that healthcare data be stored with the appropriate security standards, for purposes of proof of medical treatment and for future patient’s safety.
Following the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 27 April 2016, CPME will closely monitor the implementation of this new regulatory framework, especially in respect of the processing of data concerning health.
